Just started this account today so I could join a few groups I've been reading lately. ^_^
To introduce myself, I'm R. (Rachael) Leigh Simmons and I'm 18. I'm from Lakeland, Fl. but currently live in Lubbock, Texas. I live, work, and study at home where I live with my mother, dashhound, and two finches. I'm working on my college applications for Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Fl. and I'm drawing a one-shot graphic Novel called 'Petals in the Wind' for 803 studios . Beyond my failed attempts to lose weight and submit comic book samples to the major (and a few minor) comicbook companies on a regular basis, I'm still attempting to better myself and work on my self-image and self-confidence.I love musicals(RENT!),comic books(Indy and mainstream), cooking, art history, painting, drawing, reading, yoga, kickboxing, Batman, philosophy, and wasting time online(sigh..*looks at watch*).
Anyways....
I've been stressed about applying to Ringling, because so many of my friends have applied to their schools of choice months ago. So I found a group on here the go or are going to go to Ringling and posted my concerns there. Now I'm not as stressed about my application as I am passing my GED in two weeks >.<
I've been having trouble with the graphic novel I've been working on lately, so I found a group that is working on their own personal graphic novels and who post their progress and problems in the group and will soon post something overthere myself.
I think sometimes the best way to overcome anxiety, or procrastination and just get motivated is to surround oneself with a community of like minded people who are or have gone through the same sort of dillimas one is currently facing. It puts things into perspective.
Current to do list:
Transfer 'Petals' pg. 19 layout to full-sized bristol board
Layout Petals pg. 20
1 playing card collage
still-life no.2
Study for GED
